**Yonkers was "Manhattan County" until 1873. [Unsure where I got this fact- online historical research page?]
**nyc.gov: New York City ( Manhattan) annexed the area west of the Bronx River in 1874 and annexed the area east of the Bronx river in 1895. For vital records from 1874-1897, search the Manhattan records.
**
Discovered later: Yonkers keeps its own records, independently of NYC.
-Check these facts before ordering death certificate.
Check: what year did vital records begin in Yonkers, NY?
The name "Lundrigan" is a variation of "Lonergan," and the old Gaelic name was "O'Longargain." The name originated in County Tipperary. It was "ecclesiastical" in the past- that is, several O'Longargain's were priests.
Oral tradition said that the father, Michael, put the children in the school and took the two older brothers to go "shipbuilding" and would come back to pick them up. The brothers had biblical names, "...like Peter or Patrick." The 4 names, brothers?, that show up in directories are Michael, John and Patrick and Thomas, all biblical names.
[Maybe these were Michael Sr.'s brothers...?]
